What is polyfoam concrete leveling?
Polyfoam concrete leveling is a repair method that injects expanding polyurethane material beneath a settled slab. The foam fills open space, adds support, and can raise the concrete in controlled increments.
What kinds of concrete can be lifted?
Many driveways, sidewalks, patios, garage floors, steps, stoops, and other slabs may be candidates for leveling. The concrete must still be in suitable condition; severely broken or deteriorated slabs may be better candidates for replacement.
Why did my concrete sink?
Common causes include poorly compacted fill, soil movement, erosion, water washout, and voids that develop beneath the slab. An inspection helps identify the conditions around the low area.
Is leveling the same as replacing concrete?
No. Leveling keeps the existing slab and works beneath it, while replacement removes and repours the concrete. When the slab is still usable, leveling can mean less demolition and less disruption.
Will concrete leveling remove existing cracks?
No. Lifting may improve the position of the sections on either side of a crack, but it does not erase or structurally repair the crack itself. Crack appearance and alignment vary from slab to slab.
Can every slab be returned to perfectly level?
Not always. Existing cracks, fixed structures, slab condition, and the way the concrete settled can limit movement. The practical goal is a controlled improvement in support, alignment, drainage, or transition height.
How large are the injection holes?
Polyfoam lifting uses relatively small access ports compared with traditional mudjacking holes. Port size and placement depend on the slab and the areas that need support.
How soon can the concrete be used after leveling?
Polyurethane material cures quickly, so normal use can often resume much sooner than with newly poured concrete. The exact timing depends on the project, and you should follow the instructions provided for your repair.
Can leveling help with water draining toward my home?
Sometimes. Raising a settled slab may improve its pitch, but drainage depends on the surrounding grades, downspouts, joints, and available lift. Concrete leveling is not a substitute for correcting every drainage or waterproofing issue.
